A WORLD PREMIERE STARRING KEVIN BACON AND HELMED BY DARJO TRESNJAK
Kevin Bacon returns to the stage in a highly anticipated world premiere of Cornell Woolrich's Rear Window, made famous by the Academy Award nominated 1954 movie starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly. Helmed by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak (Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder), it has been adapted specially for the stage by Keith Reddin.
Bacon has seen a resurgence in popularity of late. As well as starring in a well-known series of commercials in the UK for EE mobile network, he has also been keeping busy Stateside, having appeared in Cop Car and the Fox series The Following. Bacon has also appeared on Broadway in Slab Boys and An Almost Holy Picture.
WHAT IS REAR WINDOW ABOUT?
Follow the tortuous predicament of wheelchair-bound photographer L.B. 'Jeff' Jefferies (Bacon) when he believes he has witnessed a murder whilst spying on his neighbours in a busy apartment complex.
He gains the reluctant help of his girlfriend Lisa and nurse Stella to help him investigate, but winds up putting one of them in peril when they go to the alleged murder scene. With his leg encased in plaster, Jeff can only watch in fascinated horror as a dangerous cat and mouse game starts, without being to help at all. But was there a murder at all, or is it a figment of Jeff's boredom and desperate need for stimulation?
There's no word yet on whether this production will be slated for a Broadway transfer, but given Bacon and Tresnjak's involvement, we'll be sure to keep you updated!
