NOT THE BEST I HAVE SEEN

Was excited to see it again, bought tickets in the Loge, Excellent seats, beautiful venue. then it started... very hard to understand the speaking parts and some of the songs, Christine got better as the show went on, Raoul should stay at high school musicals, he was very unemotional and off key, Phantom was excellent. Carlotta, Piangi, Firman and Andre were just as disappointing as the rest. I hope it was just opening night jitters

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

As soon as it started I thought where is the volume? Very low, hard to follow. It was my husband's first time seeing it, and he has some hearing loss, so he didn't hear much at all. Understudy Kaitlyn Davis saved this show! She had a wonderful voice! Not impressed with Phantom, Mr. Lee. We were close enough to view all the spitting he was doing while singing! Not very romantic. When Christine kissed him, I was actually grossed out! It`s not the Phantom of the 90's. Not worth the huge ticket price at all!

UNDERWHELMING

Wonderful orchestra and elaborate sets and costumes but the singers, both individually and as an ensemble, seemed flat and couldn't sustain their notes (in my opinion). The significant and potent high notes that everyone anticipates and waits for in this play just fell flat and were very underwhelming to say the least. Unfortunately, this was the worst production of Phantom I've seen.

SOUND WAS TOO LOW.

I saw the show at the Paramount in Seattle on August 12. I took my wife who has never seen it. We were both very excited. I want to first start with compliments. The Paramount is epic. Love the venue. They stage production was impressive, Very well done. However, Masquerade was not. It was small, dark, and fell very short of the grandeur the scene requires. Also, the story was hard to follow. It was like a cliff note performance. However, the worst part was the sound. It was way too quiet on the mezzanine making the story even harder to follow. We left the show early. Overall, I was not happy with the overall production or the sound quality. The cast was amazing. Songs were well sung and the cast did a flawless job.

UNDERWHELMED

Went with a group of friends who have all seen multiple past performances in previous years. We were all unimpressed with the production from the singing to the costumes. This was very disappointing as we were all excited to see the play again. Emma Grimsley as Christine Daae was very good but we felt the roles of The Phantom & Raoul were not up to par. For the price of the tickets, I expected a much more professional performance. The production felt a little amateur compared to past productions of Phantom.

GREAT PRODUCTION VALUES. GOOD PERFORMANCE. NO CHEMISTRY.

The updated staging and effects are a welcome and refreshing addition to this classic. Eva Tavares and Quentin Oliver Lee put up great vocal performances. They are certainly talented. However, what was lacking was the chemistry that is so essential to the relationship between Christine and Phantom. What should be portrayed by Christine as being torn by a mix of fear, fascination, pity and love for Phantom falls flat and comes across as simply disgust for him. In return, Phantom's only link to sanity and humanity should be anchored by Christine and that crucial part of him just doesn't come across well. This very complex and essential part of the story is just not well-interpreted and executed by Eva and Quentin. In previous viewings of Phantom I've found myself on the edge of my seat, completely engrossed in watching this enthralling dynamic play out between Christine and Phantom. In this rendition I found myself disappointed when I should have been completely captivated.

CHRISTINE REPLACED WITH SUBSTITUTE :-(

Attended June 19th. Phantom -AWESOME. Raoul - AWESOME. The comedy of the opera owners was hilarious - they all did a great job and the stage effects and management was fabulous. Unfortunately on the evening we had tickets Christine was replaced with a substitute and she was awful. Off tune. Totally the wrong type of voice for Christine...she should be 'pure' not 'warbly'. That actress would have been perfect as Carlotta, but definitely shouldn't have been cast even as a backup for Christine. Even Carlotta sounded better than her. It was a real let down. My all-time favourite musical. The phantom and Raoul were really, really good, as was the rest of the cast and the staging. This would have been a 5 for me if not for the poor performance of Christine's replacement. Ultimately I begrudge the 100s of $ spent on the tickets because Christine's songs are some of what makes this musical one I will attend again and again.
