WAR HORSE: A MUST-SEE EVENT

Go to KERA TV Making War Horse and click on OFFICIAL WEBSITE for a glimpse of the life-sized horse puppet in action, held up by three people. If you saw the June 2012 KERA-TV production re The Making of War Horse then you KNOW that this performance is an absolute must-see event.

THEATRICAL MAGIC

I'm only rating the show FIVE STARS because the scale doesn't allow for more. This is one of the most visceral, heart wrenching yet ultimately joyous evenings you are ever apt to spend in a theater. And the horses are pure magic: within seconds of their appearance onstage, they are real.

MUST SEE THEATRE!

We had the opportunity to see War Horse in London 2 years ago and my husband and I were both spellbound! The horses are alive after the first few scenes...it's a tragic yet amazing, uplifting play that will keep you talking for days!

WARHORSE IS MAGIC!

Warhorse is magic. A wonderful story which is so masterfully and innovatively portrayed. The puppet horses are real in appearance and as characters. The puppeteers do a most amazing job as you see them but they vanish, userped by the acting and movement they instill in these puppets. The human actors, the singers and the entire cast are wonderful. The production was unique, fascinating and so successful in bringing this book and movie to life on stage. It delivers an evening of pure entertainment on so many levels and provided one of the most enjoyable nights ever here at the Providence Performing Arts Center. Thanks to all who put this show together.

EXCELLANT PRODUCTION

Saw this production in Toronto and was thoroughly blown away. I had seen the movie twice, and the theatre production was so realistic and the puppetry so professional, one forgot very quickly that this was a play. I would see again in a minute.

PHENOMENAL

My husband and I went to the matinee today! Truly unlike anything we've ever seen. One becomes so mesmerized by the puppetry and involved in the character of the actors, including the war horses, that you truly believe the animals are real. I was sorry the theater was not full to capacity. This is a privilege to have this show in Syracuse. I worry that poor attendance will keep other shows away.

MUST SEE THEATRE

The most extraorinary piece of theatre I have ever seen. The piece transforms stagecraft art into theatrical magic. I saw this production in Hershey this past weekend and looking forward to Baltimore to experience Warhorse again.

SIMPLY THE BEST

The film was pretty good but if you haven't seen the stage production of Warhorse, you haven't seen the real thing. I defy anybody to watch this stunning show and not be amazed by the skill and total believability of the puppeteers - truly superb recreations of magnificent animals. Catch the show at the Fisher before it moves on - you won't regret it.

A MAGICAL SHOW

We attend the theater regularly - WAR HORSE is a theatrical experience!! From the puppetry to the acting to the production - DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW. I'm not sure there will be another like it in my lifetime.

WAR HORSE INDIGENOUS CHARACTERS A DISAPPOINTMENT

Went to see War Horse last night at the Queen E. The handspring puppets were magical! I am still marveling at what they accomplished which was make the audience believe a 1000 lbs. horse is alive on the theater stage. Disappointing were the casting of some of the characters, particularly that of the young French girl.......what were the directors thinking when they cast a girl of obvious Chinese descent. Yes, she was a very good actress but that did not take away from the fact that she is supposed to be a french girl living in the countryside during WW1! This aside, the play was very good.

3.5 star rating Loved War Horse-Disappointed in Staff from Chicago, Illinois

GREAT SHOW-POOR STAFF AT THE CADALLIC PALACE

War Horse deserves a 5+ as a show. It is outstanding. The staff at the Cadallic Palace needs a lot of improvement. With many patrons being elderly, the patience and assistance of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. On a very cold day, patrons were left in a very cold venue and after the show the staff showed little patience with patrons who needed assistance or to sit while waiting for cars. The staff was more concerned about clearing the theater for the next performance versus caring about their current patrons. The show is outstanding but for ticket price-I expect a staff that is helpful, pleasent and caring (especially about the elderly patrons who need assistance). Do yourself a favor management staff-improve your staff and improve your restroom situation. What a disaster to wait for so long to use a restroom. Come on Chicago-you can do better for your patrons!

WAR HORSE - NOT MUCH OF A STORY

The puppets were fabulous for sure. I have tickets very close to the stage and yet I missed a lot of the dialogue. The story was not particularly engaging and seemed to be a device to feature the puppets. Lion King it is not. aevand

NOT FOR CHILDREN

Too intense, dark, and depressing. Great job on the horses. Could't wait till it was over.

MORE LIKE 'SNORE HORSE'

Amazing puppet - horrible show - left at intermission. The best cast member was a Goose puppet. If the show were 15 minutes long - OK - but beyond that - no way.

2.0 star rating Margaret Martens from Syracuse, New York

I DON'T GET IT.

Okay, the puppetry of the horses was magnificent, and after just a few minutes you didn't even notice the puppeteers. That being said, my husband and I could not wait for intermission so that we could leave. We found it boring, and a bit silly. Great puppetry does not make up for not caring about anything else that is going on.
